According to the latest ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey, Burnaby-Coquitlam area employers expect a cautiously optimistic hiring climate for the fourth quarter of 2019.

“Survey data reveals that 8% of employers plan to hire for the upcoming quarter, while 2% anticipate cutbacks,” said Richard Plumb of Manpower’s Vancouver office. “Another 89% of employers plan to maintain their current staffing levels in the upcoming quarter. The remaining 1% are unsure of their hiring intentions.

“With seasonal variations removed from the data, Burnaby-Coquitlam’s fourth quarter Net Employment Outlook of +10% is a nine percentage point decrease when compared to the previous quarterly Outlook,” said Plumb. “It is also an eight percentage point decrease from the Outlook reported during the same time last year, indicating a modest hiring pace for the upcoming months.”
